What are you looking for?
Beach Bunny Swimwear founder Angela Chittenden is probably more in-the-know than anyone when it comes to quality bathing suits. Before launching her brand in 2004, Angela worked as a swimsuit model, learning firsthand what makes a swimsuit great to wear (and what doesn't). Frustrated by what she saw as a gap in the market--most of the hundreds of suits she wore as a model were either too conservative or too tasteless--Angela decided to create a line that combined sexiness, sophistication, and functionality. Thus was born Beach Bunny Swimwear, an upscale swimsuit brand for women who want to feel confident, glamorous, and fun.
In the years since Angela's label arrived on the scene, the brand has become a major player in the high-end beachwear market. Angela's suits have been spotted on celebrities like Jennifer Lopez, Fergie, and Cindy Crawford. Angela herself has been featured in several magazines including Vogue and In Style, and she's opened successful retail stores in Los Angeles, Scottsdale, Miami, and Las Vegas. And in 2014, the launch of a new store in the luxurious Galleria Mall in Dubai cemented Beach Bunny's status as an international brand.
What makes Angela Chittenden's designs unique is her distinct aesthetic. Although she has no formal training, Angela combines keen instincts with a good eye for color and texture. Details in her suits are drawn from unexpected places: tones and textures she spots on her many travels to places like Belize and the United Arab Emirates, hardware that isn't typically used in swim attire, and embellishments borrowed from the lingerie department. Best of all, her suits are all hand-sewn in the U.S. Her current collection anticipates some of the big swimwear trends of 2017, with several key pieces that are must-haves for any dedicated beach maven.
- Trend: Athleisure
- Suit: Endless Summer Push Up Bikini
The athleisure craze looks bigger than ever for 2017, and the Endless Summer Push Up Bikini has a definite sporty vibe. With bold, graphic color-blocking and a top that looks like it could double up as a sports bra, this is the perfect suit for ladies who want to tap into the chic workout wear trend. The bikini comes in three eye-catching color combinations: pink and teal, blue and white, and coral and grey. Unexpected zipper accents keep the look fresh and edgy.
- Trend: Scalloped Edges
- Suit: Under Your Spell One Piece
With its sheer lace detailing and scalloped neckline, this piece is the swimsuit equivalent of the lace cami, the year's hottest fashion item. Nude backing under the lace and a modestly cut bottom keep the suit just demure enough to balance out a sexy deep v-neck and plunging halter back. This lacy little black number truly captures the boudoir aesthetic that is a signature of Angela Chittenden's design vision.
- Trend: Cutouts
- Suit: Bunny Basic's Burgundy One Piece
Strategically placed geometric cutouts were seen all over the Spring/Summer 2017 runways, on elegant evening gowns and casual crop tops alike. The cutout trend is a natural fit for swimsuits (if you can't show extra skin at the beach, where can you?), and this piece does the trend justice. An elongating deep v-neck combines with symmetrical, waist-carving side cutouts to flatter every body shape. The suit's neutral burgundy tone and overall simplicity keep the look from overwhelming the eye, and cheeky gold hardware accents add a subtly glam finishing touch.
